Here the Performance-cores start fast and turbo to 5.2GHz, which makes for consistently responsive gaming and application performance rather than bursty. Eight efficiency cores take on background load, and Xe graphics with four cores mean the machine posts and displays without a card. The unlocked multiplier opens up tuning on a Z890 board.

Fourteen cores, fourteen threads

Core Ultra has no Hyper-Threading, so the thread count matches the core count. For gaming that's a non-issue; for heavily threaded rendering and encoding it means comparing against AMD's thread counts carefully rather than assuming parity. Power-wise it's much more reasonable than the old i9s — 159W maximum turbo, so a good tower air cooler is sufficient rather than a mandatory AIO. No cooler is included.

FEATURES:

4.2GHz base and 5.2GHz turbo on six Performance-cores

Unlocked multiplier for overclocking on Z-series boards

Intel Graphics with 4 Xe-cores up to 1.9GHz

Intel AI Boost NPU — 13 TOPS

DDR5 up to 6400 MT/s, max 256GB

SPECIFICATIONS:

Model: Intel Core Ultra 5 245K (BX80768245K)

Total Cores: 14 (6 Performance-cores + 8 Efficient-cores)

Threads: 14

P-core Base Frequency: 4.2 GHz

Max Turbo Frequency: 5.2 GHz

Cache: 24 MB Intel Smart Cache

Processor Base Power: 125 W

Maximum Turbo Power: 159 W

Socket: FCLGA1851

Memory: DDR5 up to 6400 MT/s, 2 channels, max 256 GB

Integrated Graphics: Intel Graphics, 4 Xe-cores, up to 1.9 GHz

NPU: Intel AI Boost, 13 TOPS (Int8)

PCI Express: PCIe 5.0 and 4.0, up to 24 lanes

Bundled Cooler: Not included

Warranty: 3 Year

WHAT'S IN THE BOX:

Intel Core Ultra 5 245K processor

Documentation

Cooler sold separately

Why Intel?

Core Ultra brought power draw back under control after the 14th-gen i9s, without giving up clock speed.
