That makes it handy for offloading large photo and video files from a USB-C phone, then plugging into a laptop to edit. It works with Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS, and Hiksemi backs it with a five-year warranty, longer than the three years common on portable SSDs.

Getting the Full 2000MB/s

The headline speed needs a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 (20Gbps) port, which few laptops have and Macs do not support. On a standard 10Gbps USB-C port, expect roughly half, around 1000MB/s, which is still about twice a SATA-class portable drive. On older 5Gbps ports and phones with slower USB, the port sets the limit, not the drive. The shell is plastic rather than aluminium, so it is light but not as rugged as a metal-bodied drive.

FEATURES:

Magnetic design for smartphones

Max read speed up to 2000MB/s

Max write speed up to 1850MB/s

USB-C to USB-C cable included

Five-year warranty

SPECIFICATIONS:

Model: Hiksemi Elite Magnet / Elite 9 (HS-ESSD-ELITE9-1T)

Capacity: 1TB (1024GB)

Interface: USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C (20Gbps)

Max Read Speed: 2000MB/s

Max Write Speed: 1850MB/s

Material: Plastic

Compatibility: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS

Dimensions: 89.1 x 64.5 x 10mm

Weight: 56g

Colour: Grey

Warranty: 5 Years

WHAT'S IN THE BOX:

Hiksemi Elite Magnet 1TB Portable SSD – Grey x1

USB-C to USB-C data cable x1

Magnetic ring x1

Quick start guide x1

Why Hiksemi?

Hiksemi is the storage brand that grew out of the Hikvision group, making SSDs, memory cards and flash drives.
