This one puts a serious HX-class desktop-derived CPU behind a mid-range graphics card. For pure gaming that is not the optimal split and we will not pretend otherwise - the A16 above it gives you more frames per rand. But if you edit video, run simulations, compile, or do anything that scales across cores, the i7-14650HX will finish those jobs far faster than the six- and eight-core chips elsewhere in this collection, and the RTX 5050 still handles 1080p gaming comfortably.

The 115W part

ASUS runs the RTX 5050 in this chassis at its full 115W with Dynamic Boost, which is the top of what NVIDIA allows for the part. A 5050 at 115W meaningfully outperforms the same GPU squeezed into a thinner laptop at 55-75W, so the comparison to other RTX 5050 machines is not as simple as the model number suggests.

FEATURES:

Intel Core i7-14650HX, 16 cores / 24 threads

RTX 5050 at the full 115W with DLSS 4 multi frame generation

MUX switch, NVIDIA Advanced Optimus and G-Sync

Two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots to 64GB, two M.2 slots

Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1 FRL, three USB-A, RJ45 LAN

Wi-Fi 6E, 1080p IR camera with Windows Hello

SPECIFICATIONS:

Model: ASUS TUF Gaming F16 (FX608JHR-I716512G0W)

Processor: Intel Core i7-14650HX (16 cores, 24 threads, up to 5.2GHz)

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop GPU, 8GB GDDR7, 115W

Memory: 16GB DDR5-5600 (2 slots, to 64GB)

Storage: 512GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD, second M.2 slot free

Display: 16" 16:10 IPS-level anti-glare, G-Sync with MUX switch

Wireless: Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth

Keyboard: Backlit chiclet, single-zone RGB, Copilot key

Weight: 2.20kg

Operating system: Windows 11 Home

Warranty: 1 year

WHAT'S IN THE BOX:

ASUS TUF Gaming F16 laptop

Power adapter

Documentation

Why ASUS?

TUF is where ASUS puts durability ahead of thinness, and the F16 is the Intel half of that line.
