This one has already chosen: it ships with double the memory of almost everything else in this collection, behind Intel's fastest previous-generation mobile chip. For video editing, running virtual machines, large Lightroom catalogues, or simply having forty browser tabs open while a render finishes, that combination does more real work than a faster GPU would. Games run well - the RTX 5060 at 115W handles 1440p on the native 2.5K panel - but they are not what this build is optimised for.

Worth knowing

The i9-14900HX is a 14th-generation part, not the newest Core Ultra. It is still one of the fastest mobile CPUs ASUS ships and it costs less than the current generation, which is why this configuration lands at R49 999 with 32GB. It draws more power and runs hotter than a Core Ultra equivalent; the Strix cooling handles it, but this is not a quiet machine under load.

FEATURES:

32GB DDR5 fitted from the factory, expandable to 64GB

Intel Core i9-14900HX, 24 cores / 32 threads

RTX 5060 with 8GB GDDR7 at 115W, DLSS 4 multi frame generation

16" 2.5K 16:10 display with G-Sync and MUX switch

90Wh battery, Wi-Fi 7, Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1 FRL, RJ45 LAN

Per-key RGB keyboard, 1080p IR camera for Windows Hello

SPECIFICATIONS:

Model: ASUS ROG Strix G16 (G615JMR-I93210G0W)

Processor: Intel Core i9-14900HX (24 cores, 32 threads, up to 5.8GHz)

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU, 8GB GDDR7, 115W

Memory: 32GB DDR5 (2 slots, to 64GB)

Storage: 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD

Display: 16" 2.5K 2560 x 1600 IPS-level anti-glare, G-Sync with MUX switch

Battery: 90Wh, 4-cell

Wireless: Wi-Fi 7 + Bluetooth 5.4

Weight: approximately 2.65kg

Operating system: Windows 11 Home

Warranty: 3 years

WHAT'S IN THE BOX:

ASUS ROG Strix G16 laptop

Power adapter

Documentation

Why ASUS?

A three-year warranty on a machine you intend to earn money with is worth more than a benchmark.
