The Pro WS TRX50-SAGE WiFi is designed around a Threadripper 7000 chip feeding several PCIe 5.0 devices at once — multiple GPUs, capture cards, high-speed NICs, NVMe arrays — with the lane budget to actually run them concurrently. Registered ECC memory support matters if you are doing multi-day simulations or colour-critical media work where a silent bit flip is expensive. For South African studios, engineering firms and research labs, it is the sort of platform you buy once and keep in service for years.

Be honest about whether you need this

Threadripper is enormously expensive per core-hour if your workload is mostly single-threaded, and gaming performance on this platform trails a good Ryzen 9 or Core Ultra 9 desktop chip. The board itself demands a large chassis, a high-wattage PSU with the correct EPS connectors, and cooling designed for sTR5 — none of that is cheap. R-DIMM memory is not interchangeable with the DDR5 UDIMMs in a normal desktop. If your job is gaming, streaming or ordinary content creation, an AM5 or LGA1851 board will do the work for a fraction of the total spend.

FEATURES:

Server-grade power delivery with substantial heatsinks and ProCool connectors

Quad-channel DDR5 R-DIMM support including ECC for data integrity

Extensive PCIe 5.0 expansion for multi-GPU and accelerator workloads

Dual-speed networking with 10GbE plus 2.5GbE and Wi-Fi 7

ASUS Control Center Express and workstation-focused management tooling

SPECIFICATIONS:

Model: ASUS Pro WS TRX50-SAGE WiFi

Chipset: AMD TRX50

Socket: AMD sTR5

Form Factor: CEB / E-ATX class workstation board

Memory: 4 x DDR5 R-DIMM slots, quad channel, ECC registered memory support, very high capacity

Expansion Slots: Multiple PCIe 5.0 x16 slots plus additional expansion connectivity

Storage: Multiple M.2 NVMe sockets (PCIe 5.0 capable) plus SATA 6Gb/s ports and a PCIe slimline connector

Networking: 10 Gigabit Ethernet, 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet and onboard Wi-Fi 7 with Bluetooth

Audio: Realtek high-definition audio codec

Rear I/O Highlights: USB4 Type-C, BIOS FlashBack and Clear CMOS buttons, dual LAN ports, Wi-Fi antenna mounts

USB: USB4 / USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A rear ports plus front-panel USB Type-C header

Warranty: 3 Year

WHAT'S IN THE BOX:

ASUS Pro WS TRX50-SAGE WiFi motherboard

SATA 6Gb/s cables

Wi-Fi antenna

M.2 mounting kit and screws

User manual and support documentation

Why ASUS?

The ASUS Pro WS range is validated against professional workloads and long-duty-cycle operation rather than benchmark headlines, which is why it shows up in so many production render farms.
