Add 256MB of L3, 144 usable PCIe 5.0 lanes and ECC RDIMM support, and you have a machine for large-scale VFX rendering, CFD and FEA simulation, and virtualisation hosts that need to stay up and be trusted.

Specify it for the right reason

Base clock is 3.2GHz — this chip is bought for aggregate throughput, not per-core responsiveness, and a 7975WX will feel snappier in interactive work. It's a 350W part needing sTR5 cooling, a WRX90 board and eight RDIMM modules to reach full memory bandwidth, none of which comes in the box. Specify the 7985WX when your renders and simulations reliably use every core; otherwise the 7975WX is the better machine to sit in front of.

FEATURES:

64C/128T with 256MB of L3 cache

8-channel DDR5-5200 with ECC RDIMM, enabled by default

144 usable PCIe 5.0 lanes for multi-GPU workstations

AMD PRO manageability and security features

Fully unlocked for overclocking

SPECIFICATIONS:

Model: AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7985WX (100-100000454WOF)

Cores / Threads: 64 / 128

Base Clock: 3.2 GHz

Max Boost Clock: Up to 5.1 GHz

L2 Cache: 64 MB

L3 Cache: 256 MB

Default TDP: 350 W

Socket: sTR5

Process Node: TSMC 5nm FinFET (CPU cores), TSMC 6nm FinFET (I/O die)

Memory: DDR5 up to 5200 MT/s, 8 channels, ECC RDIMM supported (enabled by default)

PCI Express: PCIe 5.0, 148 lanes total (144 usable, 128 at PCIe 5.0)

Unlocked for Overclocking: Yes

Bundled Cooler: Not included

Warranty: 3 Year

WHAT'S IN THE BOX:

AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7985WX processor

Documentation

Cooler sold separately — sTR5-compatible cooling required

Why AMD?

Eight memory channels are what turn a high core count from a spec sheet number into real throughput.
