Around that sit eight channels of ECC DDR5 and 144 usable PCIe 5.0 lanes — enough for multiple professional GPUs, high-speed networking and a large NVMe array all at full bandwidth. For most studios speccing a serious workstation, this is the model that gets chosen.

Above and below it

The 7965WX saves real money if twenty-four cores cover your workload; the 7985WX doubles the cores if your renders are the bottleneck and you don't mind losing per-core speed. This sits between them deliberately. Standard PRO platform requirements apply: a WRX90 board, eight RDIMM modules to use all channels, sTR5 cooling for 350W, and a power supply sized for the whole system. Nothing is included in the box.

FEATURES:

32C/64T at up to 5.3GHz

8-channel DDR5-5200 with ECC RDIMM, enabled by default

144 usable PCIe 5.0 lanes

AMD PRO manageability and security features

128MB L3 cache; fully unlocked

SPECIFICATIONS:

Model: AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7975WX (100-100000453WOF)

Cores / Threads: 32 / 64

Base Clock: 4.0 GHz

Max Boost Clock: Up to 5.3 GHz

L2 Cache: 32 MB

L3 Cache: 128 MB

Default TDP: 350 W

Socket: sTR5

Process Node: TSMC 5nm FinFET (CPU cores), TSMC 6nm FinFET (I/O die)

Memory: DDR5 up to 5200 MT/s, 8 channels, ECC RDIMM supported (enabled by default)

PCI Express: PCIe 5.0, 148 lanes total (144 usable, 128 at PCIe 5.0)

Unlocked for Overclocking: Yes

Bundled Cooler: Not included

Warranty: 3 Year

WHAT'S IN THE BOX:

AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7975WX processor

Documentation

Cooler sold separately — sTR5-compatible cooling required

Why AMD?

Thirty-two fast cores plus eight memory channels is the spec sheet most professional pipelines are actually built around.
