In games and in single-threaded work it's the quickest non-X3D chip on the socket, and sixteen threads keep it strong for streaming, editing and rendering. If you're doing a final upgrade on an existing AM4 board and want maximum all-round speed, this is the ceiling.

105W changes the cooling maths

Unlike the 65W parts, the 5800XT runs at 105W and ships without a cooler, so plan for a decent tower air cooler or a 240mm AIO — a stock-class cooler will thermally limit it. Also worth being honest about value: the 5700X costs less, runs at 65W and gives up only a few percent. Buy the 5800XT when you want the best AM4 has and are prepared to cool it properly.

FEATURES:

Highest-clocked eight-core on the AM4 socket

Full 32MB L3 cache with PCIe 4.0

16 threads for streaming and creative workloads

Unlocked for overclocking

Supports up to 128GB of DDR4

SPECIFICATIONS:

Model: AMD Ryzen 7 5800XT (100-100001582BOX)

Cores / Threads: 8 / 16

Base Clock: 3.8 GHz

Max Boost Clock: Up to 4.8 GHz

L2 Cache: 4 MB

L3 Cache: 32 MB

Integrated Graphics: None — discrete graphics card required

Default TDP: 105 W

Socket: AM4

Process Node: TSMC 7nm FinFET (CPU cores)

Memory: DDR4, dual channel, up to 128 GB

PCI Express: PCIe 4.0 (24 lanes total, 20 usable)

Unlocked for Overclocking: Yes

Warranty: 3 Year

WHAT'S IN THE BOX:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800XT processor

Documentation and case badge

Cooler sold separately

Why AMD?

AMD launched brand-new AM4 chips years after moving on to AM5 — that's a company taking its upgrade promise seriously.
