For anyone sitting on a B550 or X570 board with DDR4 already installed, the 5800X3D is the upgrade that makes replacing the whole platform unnecessary — one part swap and the machine competes with far newer builds in gaming.

Locked, hot, and gaming-focused

Three honest caveats. The stacked cache means the chip runs warm at 105W and wants a strong air cooler or an AIO. Its 4.5GHz boost is modest, so productivity work — rendering, encoding, compiling — is slower than on a 5800XT. And while AMD lists it as unlocked, the 3D V-Cache die restricts voltage tuning in practice, so treat it as a set-and-forget chip. Buy it to play games on hardware you already own.

FEATURES:

96MB L3 cache via AMD 3D V-Cache

Fastest gaming processor available on the AM4 socket

8C/16T with PCIe 4.0

Turns an existing B550/X570 build into a current-tier gaming PC

Supports up to 128GB DDR4-3200

SPECIFICATIONS:

Model: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D (100-100000651POF)

Cores / Threads: 8 / 16

Base Clock: 3.4 GHz

Max Boost Clock: Up to 4.5 GHz

L2 Cache: 4 MB

L3 Cache: 96 MB (AMD 3D V-Cache)

Integrated Graphics: None — discrete graphics card required

Default TDP: 105 W

Socket: AM4

Process Node: TSMC 7nm FinFET (CPU cores), 12nm I/O die

Memory: DDR4 up to 3200 MT/s, dual channel, up to 128 GB

PCI Express: PCIe 4.0

Unlocked for Overclocking: Yes

Bundled Cooler: Not included — liquid cooler recommended

Warranty: 3 Year

WHAT'S IN THE BOX:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor

Documentation and case badge

Cooler sold separately

Why AMD?

The 5800X3D is the clearest proof that AMD's long socket support is worth something real to owners.
