Games hold far more of their working data right next to the CPU, which cuts the trips out to system RAM that cause stutter and frame-time spikes. The result is a chip whose modest 4.5GHz boost badly understates how it performs in games — in cache-hungry titles like simulators, strategy games and large open worlds, it punches well above chips with much higher clocks.

Gaming first, everything else second

The trade for that cache is clock speed: 4.5GHz boost is low by current standards, so anything that isn't cache-sensitive — video encoding, rendering, compiling — runs slower here than on a 9600X. Six cores also limits heavy multitasking. Buy the 7500X3D if the machine is for playing games. If it's a mixed work-and-play PC, a 9600X or Ryzen 7 9700X is the more balanced buy.

FEATURES:

96MB L3 via AMD 3D V-Cache — triple a standard Ryzen 5

Big frame-rate gains in cache-sensitive games

65W TDP keeps it cool and quiet

PCIe 5.0 on the AM5 socket

Integrated Radeon graphics for display-out

SPECIFICATIONS:

Model: AMD Ryzen 5 7500X3D (100-100001904WOF)

Cores / Threads: 6 / 12

Base Clock: 4.0 GHz

Max Boost Clock: Up to 4.5 GHz

L2 Cache: 6 MB

L3 Cache: 96 MB (AMD 3D V-Cache)

Integrated Graphics: AMD Radeon Graphics (2 GPU cores)

Default TDP: 65 W

Socket: AM5

Process Node: TSMC 5nm FinFET (CPU cores)

Memory: DDR5, dual channel, up to 128 GB

PCI Express: PCIe 5.0

Unlocked for Overclocking: Yes

Bundled Cooler: Not included

Warranty: 3 Year

WHAT'S IN THE BOX:

AMD Ryzen 5 7500X3D processor

Documentation and case badge

Cooler sold separately

Why AMD?

3D V-Cache is AMD's own technology and has no equivalent from Intel — it's the reason X3D chips top gaming charts.
