The first is VRAM: 8GB of GDDR7 instead of 6GB of GDDR6, which is the difference between turning texture quality down in a few recent titles and leaving it alone. The second is DLSS 4 with multi frame generation, which is exclusive to the 50-series and does more for playable frame rates on a mid-range laptop GPU than any amount of raw silicon at this price. Together they make this a meaningfully more future-proof machine than the RTX 4050 models, for about R3 000 more.

Where the Ryzen 5 sits

The Ryzen 5 150 is the modest end of the CPU range and it is the right call in a GPU-led machine like this one - at 1080p the RTX 5050 sets the pace in almost everything. If you edit video, compile code or run heavy multitasking alongside games, step up to the Ryzen 7 version of this same laptop; if you mostly play, the money is better spent elsewhere.

FEATURES:

8GB GDDR7 on the RTX 5050 - more headroom for textures than the 4050

DLSS 4 with multi frame generation support

16GB DDR5 fitted from the factory

15.6" Full HD IPS at 165Hz

Killer Wi-Fi 6 with Bluetooth 5, backlit keyboard

SPECIFICATIONS:

Model: Acer Nitro V 15 (NH.U3NEA.001)

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 150

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop GPU, 8GB GDDR7

Memory: 16GB DDR5

Storage: 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD

Display: 15.6" Full HD IPS, 165Hz

Wireless: Wi-Fi 6 + Bluetooth 5 (Killer)

Keyboard: Backlit

Operating system: Windows 11 Home

Warranty: 1 year

WHAT'S IN THE BOX:

Acer Nitro V 15 gaming laptop

Power adapter

Documentation

Why Acer?

Getting a current-generation RTX card under R24 000 is the whole point of the Nitro line.
