The i5-1235U is a 12th-generation hybrid chip with two performance cores and eight efficient ones - it handles a browser full of tabs alongside Office and a video call without the stutter you get from older four-core parts, and it is easier on battery. For an everyday laptop, storage and responsiveness are what you notice daily, and this wins on both.

Who should buy it

Students, home offices, anyone replacing an ageing laptop who does not game. It will run Office, Teams, Zoom, a browser, and light photo work comfortably. It will not run demanding games or heavy video editing - the graphics are integrated Intel. For gaming under R21 000, look at the Acer Nitro V range in Gaming Laptops instead.

FEATURES:

Intel Core i5-1235U, 10 cores / 12 threads

15.6" Full HD display

512GB NVMe solid state storage

Windows 11 Home pre-installed

Integrated Intel graphics

SPECIFICATIONS:

Model: Acer Gadget E10 ETBook (ZL.OTH11.03J)

Processor: Intel Core i5-1235U (10 cores, 12 threads)

Graphics: Intel integrated graphics

Memory: 8GB DDR4

Storage: 512GB NVMe SSD

Display: 15.6" Full HD

Operating system: Windows 11 Home

Warranty: 1 year

WHAT'S IN THE BOX:

Acer Gadget E10 ETBook laptop

Power adapter

Documentation

Why Acer?

Getting a current-ish Intel i5 with 512GB under R10 000 is genuinely hard to do, and Acer does it without cutting the screen.
